Best eco hotels downtown Amsterdam
If you are looking into good, comfortable eco hotels in Amsterdam, look no further. I saved you the trouble by naming 3 of the best and well-located eco hotels in the city.
“Perfect for long-stay travelers..”
The Element Amsterdam is a brand new hotel that opened its doors in February 2016 and is the second Element hotel in Europe. Located at the vibrant Zuidas business district of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Element focuses on long-stay travelers. The 160 spacious studios and suites have a light, modern and sustainable design and all feature a fully equipped kitchenette, a flexible living space, and a spa-inspired bathroom.
Both dining options at the hotel called My Place and Carrots & Co mainly use sustainable ingredients and offer a range of healthy options throughout the day. Besides a 24/7 gym, they have a grab-and-go food pantry that is also open 24/7 and offers guests the opportunity to buy everything they need to prepare a meal in their own room. Making this hotel the perfect place to stay when you need to make Amsterdam your temporary home.
“Various types of rooms, including the nicest dorm rooms you have ever seen.”
Ecomama stands for Green and Conscious Hospitality, which you can find in all the different ways Ecomama is built and run. They have a variety type of rooms available from dorms (also a ladies-only dorm) to romantic doubles or family rooms which range in size, privacy, and budget.
They care about the planet as well as about the people and animals by donating 1 euro for every night a guest stays directly to Niños de Guatemala – a NGO located in Guatemala, providing quality education for disadvantaged children and to Artis Zoo.
This hotel is perfect for the budget traveler who cares about the globe he is traveling on. And it is located near Amsterdam Central train station near the famous red light district.
Conscious Hotel (Museum square & Vondelpark)
“My personal favorite”
Conscious hotels must be one of my personal favorites as they are being kind to the planet without bragging about it or forcing it upon you. Although Conscious Hotels strive to be as green, sustainable and eco-friendly as possible you might not even notice some of their ‘green’ sustainable decisions. Like their Eco-roof with a hive for wild bees, how cool is that?! A 100% organic breakfast and tables made from recycled yogurt pots. They believe doing good can be done while looking good as well, and I totally agree with that.
With two locations right in the middle of the city center, this is the best place for people who are visiting the city for the first time as well as those who already know their way around Amsterdam. A third location will open up in five months from now called “The Tire Station” located in an old Michelin tire changing station right next to the Vondelpark, including a restaurant and an eco-patisserie.
